Citrus has been an important part of the Johnston Farms business since 1963, when the first groves of Navel oranges were planted. The Edison area of the southern San Joaquin Valley has the perfect combination of soil conditions and climate to grow premium quality fruit which is shipped all over North America and the Pacific Rim countries.

Our vertically integrated operation gives us control of the fruit during all stages of the growing, packing and shipping process, which enables us to maintain strict quality standards throughout the supply chain. Our packing facilities feature modern equipment and procedures that are constantly updated to provide a superior pack and the highest quality fruit.
When the fruit meets acceptable color and size and the correct sugar to acid ratio, it is harvested by hand and placed into 1,000 lb. bins and moved to the packinghouse. There, these bins are dumped onto a sorting line that washes, and waxes the fruit. Then, the fruit is sized and packed into cartons or bags depending on the order and placed into cold storage to await shipment to the customer.

All direct-to-consumer and gift pack product is packed and shipped on the same day to insure the freshest quality available.
